A bit about Ludlow

In the centre of the town you will find Ludlow Castle. It was fought over many times and was where Prince Arthur died. He was the older Tudor brother of Henry who was destined to become Henry VIII, marry six times, and changed British history forever.

Much of Ludlow has remained unchanged for hundreds oi years and has around 500 listed buildings in all.

The painting was painted on king Street. Looking to Broad Street, with the Buttercross built in 1743–1746 in the background.

” Ludlow….is probably the loveliest town in England with its hill of Georgian houses ascending from the river Teme to the great tower of the cross-shaped church, rising behind a classic market building.” – John Betjeman, 1943
