A drawing to give away of a sunbather on St Ives beach
I have been working down in Cornwall on a few paintings of the local seaside towns and villages. Among these of course is St Ives. And on the whitest sand in all England, if not the world was this women taking in the rays. I began drawing her from between two moored boats stranded by the retreated tide.
My subjects rarely see me, I think I maybe very non descript in my appearance. She however quickly spotted me, and that is the look I drew here. I waved my drawing book in case she was alarmed. She laughed and had me down for a nutcase. Splendid.
The pencil study is 12cm x 17.5cm, signed and mounted on acid free card.
I send out my newsletter when I feel I have got something to say which is of genuine interest, usually once or twice a month. Included in each newsletter is one free drawing or Giclee print give-away. The winner is selected at random from those who express an interest in the drawing.

Nice pic, had she downed the contents of the bottle?
You can really get the sense of a hot day on the beach.
Don’t know how you do it.

Hi Trevor,
Thanks for the comments.
I think its the high contrast that does it.. and the blinky eyes! 🙂
Hope that helps?
best wishes
