A bit about Waterloo Place

Waterloo Place is an open area in London that links The Mall and Regent Street, St. James. In the center is The Guards Crimean War Memorial. Waterloo Place also seems to be the quiet repository for statues of Britain’s heroes of the Empire.

Here, you’ll encounter illustrious figures like Florence Nightingale and Captain Scott, who stands next to a monument to Sir John Franklin, whose icy explorations led him to perish at the polar opposite of the globe to Scott. Additionally, among these distinguished individuals, you’ll discover lesser-known heroes like Field Marshal Burgoyne.

I always have fond memories of Waterloo Place as it links to Charlton House Terrace, which is where I deliver my paintings when exhibiting at the Mall Galleries.
