10×10 DRAWING THE CITY LONDON 2019
THEME: ISLE OF DOGS
AUCTION DATE: MONDAY NOVEMBER 18th
VENUE: ROYAL INSTITUTE OF BRITISH ARCHITECTS, 66 PORTLAND PLACE, W1B 1AD
WHAT IS 10X10?
10×10 London is Article 25’s flagship fundraising event.
A unique concept, 10×10 brings together 100 prominent artists, designers, and architects to create 100 pieces of art, offering 100 unique reflections on the constantly changing landscape of the city.
A grid of 100 squares is cast over an area of London, dedicating a grid square to each artist to respond to through an artwork. These works then come together at a special fundraising auction in support of Article 25 and its ongoing work with vulnerable communities around the world.
ISLE OF DOGS
Our abstracted grid of 100 squares is superimposed across the Isle of Dogs, and also takes in the river, parts of Greenwich and Poplar, so as not to miss out on the architectural riches on display in these neighbouring parts of the city. The Isle of Dogs has a long history of change.
It was a major shipping market hub for London acting as a gateway for international shipping both imports and exports for the capital. Fast forward to today and Canary Wharf sits proudly at the centre of the same Isle of Dogs location, exporting global financial services, real estate development and associated corporate consulting services.
This theme will inspire artists and architects alike to illustrate this rich tapestry of historic landmarks, diverse communities and cultures, and champions of commerce past and present.
