A bit about the Poison Garden

This painting is a rather personal piece. It represents someone I once knew. I and many others had the displeasure of working with her as a client. She was the worst type of manager. Desperate for power and terrified of responsibility.

In modern terms she would be known as a narcissist. Essentially, poisonous.

This gave me the idea for this painting. I have depicted her in a garden where she has sewn nothing but poisonous plants. You can see Hemlock there; Socrates was forced to take Hemlock for questioning authority. Also, Cuckoopint, it has red berries and is particularly poisonous to children. Narcissists poison their children too.

Eventually the poison consumes the poisoner and here we can see the Poison Ivy climbing the rake to claim its victim.

Anyway, it all had a happy ending. I ran into Adel the singer and told her the story, and she thought it was amusing and bought the painting. It has always made me smile since.
