A Limited addition print of a painting of a The Mock Tudor market Cross Building in Soho Square, London is 15.5cm x 15.5cm.

After a very busy trip to London I found myself with a few hours spare, so I took a trip to Soho Square to spends a sunny afternoon painting the shed at its centre. I have always enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere here, and its within sight of The Toucan pub, which does the best Guinness outside of Dublin.

A bit about Soho Square

Soho Square, originally part of the Soho fields, dates back to the 1680s.

At its center stands a distinctive black-and-white half-timbered building It looks Tudor but dates back to only 1925 . This being the subject of my painting. Rather unglamorously it was initially the cover for an electricity sub station, though during the second world war it was the rather charming entrance to a 200 person air raid shelter. Now it serves its time as a tool shed.

The square also features a statue of Charles II. Historical records from the 1790s, these days the gardens serve as a green sanctuary amidst the bustling West End.
