A bit about St Ives
St Ives has been there since at least the 5th Century and was named after an Irish saint. For the most part it has plied its trade through fishing though has also been a bit of a hotspot for artists ever since Turner took a trip down there in 1811. I just had to visit, and my first painting was these bait diggers and their dog in front of the lighthouse on the end of Smeaton’s Pier.
