St Kew, Cornwall
After working on a job in Port Isaac I was making my way back to the hotel when the sat nav went mad and took me to a place I had never heard of, St Kew.
There I discovered the 15th century pub the St Kew Inn. The pub still retains many of the original features including large fire places, low beams and stone walls. It also had a fine menu of local produce, and they were good enough to squeeze me in for a meal.
The food was wonderful. I ate Whole plaice, brown shrimp butter, herby potatoes. Splendid.
After eating I had a quick look at the 15th century church of St James. It was built on The site of A former Chapel established by St Docco, being one of the earliest Celtic monasteries founded in Cornwall. His sister was also a saint and he dedicated a chapel to her, she being Kew who the village was named after.
